Welcome to a new monthly feature in The Hip Hop Museum newsletter. Each month, we will speak to an athlete, musician, celebrity, or cultural influencer about what Hip Hop means to them.

This month, we spoke with Blanco Brown. Brown’s debut single “The Git Up“, released in 2019, was a number one record on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart and spawned viral dance challenges the world over racking up hundreds of millions of views.

Brown recently released his new EP ‘Cedar Walls & Whisky.’ He has also produced and written records for the likes of Pitbull, 2 Chainz, and Fergie and remains one of the hottest names in Country music.

So Blanco Brown, what does Hip Hop mean to you?:

“What does Hip Hop mean to me? It means being bold. Having a story and telling someone else’s story in the process. Having cadence. Having rhythm. Being great. Only the best of Hip Hop tells a story that you want to keep on hearing over and over again.

My sound is the remnants of Hip Hop and Trap music meets Country. Trailer park music meets the Trap. I bridged the gap.”
