My Camera Is My Weapon is a powerful visual storytelling initiative by The Hip Hop Museum that highlights the role of photography and film in capturing activism, and showing cultural impact. THHM Cares
THHM Cares is The Hip Hop Museum’s community outreach initiative, dedicated to using hip hop culture as a vehicle for social impact. The Business of Music Institute
The Business of Music Institute is a summer educational program by The Hip Hop Museum that equips student with the skills and knowledge to understand and navigate the music business. Through workshops, mentorship, and industry insights, the institute covers essential topics such as music marketing, copyright law, financial management, branding, and distribution. By bridging the gap between creativity and business, the Business of Music Institute empowers individuals to learn about and succeed in the ever-evolving music industry, fostering entrepreneurship and professional growth in the world of hip hop and beyond.
The Hip Hop Science Program
The Hip Hop Science Program is an innovative educational initiative by The Hip Hop Museum that blends hip hop culture with science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) learning. Through interactive workshops, hands-on activities, and engaging content, the program aims to inspire young people to explore STEM fields while connecting them to the creative energy of hip hop. By highlighting the scientific principles behind music production, dance, and technology, the Hip Hop Science Program fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity, encouraging students to see the connections between their passions and potential careers in STEM.
Educational Symposiums
The Hip Hop Museum (THHM) is rooted in hip hop’s fifth tenet: “knowledge.” In alignment with this principle, THHM presents a series of educational symposiums designed to enrich and empower the community. These forums explore key topics such as community engagement, educational advancement, health awareness, and financial mastery. By elevating the voices ,these discussions serve as a catalyst for meaningful and transformative progress.
Educator Coaching and Professional Development
The Hip Hop Museum (THHM) believes we are all educators, passing down knowledge daily. It also recognizes those dedicated to teaching in schools, higher education, and nonprofits. Through exhibits, programs, and events, THHM promotes Hip Hop pedagogy—an empirically backed yet often overlooked methodology in teacher training. Supporting the Hip Hop Collaborative Education Project, THHM offers coaching, professional development, and tools like FlowScholar to in-school and out-of-school educators. By equipping educators with these resources, THHM enhances youth engagement and strengthens literacy and numeracy development, ensuring Hip Hop’s educational impact continues to inspire future generations.
